So it looks like Steinberg is following suit with the trend in software manufacturers to make products for the lowest common denominator. Since Steinberg dropped the SX, SL, SE business when they launched version 4.

Cubase 4 replaced SX 3, and Cubase Studio 4 replaced SL 3, but until now there was nothing replacing the lower-end version SE. Sequel appears to be their answer.

Sequel turns you into a producer, and gives you your own fully-loaded music studio. You need HipHop beats for your latest track? Or want to surprise your friends at your next party with your own electro live-set?

Seriously, wtf is that? “HipHop [sic] beats for your lastest track”? “Surprise your friends”? Great marketing there.

Sequel is an entry-level audio and MIDI sequencer, but also a live performance tool. Interesting idea, similar to Sonar 6. But the quotes on Sequels website make me think that this will be quite a pile of crap.

Want to get them bangin’ their heads to NuMetal or chill out to Ambient? Produce your own tracks in any ‘now’ musical style with over 5000 outstanding loops and over 600 instruments.

Wow… I’ve been waiting to produce some ‘now’ music, now I finally have the software to do it!
